‘It was a mistake, I’m sorry’ – Ruben Amorim apologizes over failed move to EPL club

Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim has issued an apology to the club and its supporters for his recent trip to London to engage in discussions with West Ham.

Amorim traveled to London to explore the possibility of a move to the Premier League for the upcoming summer transfer window. Additionally, reports indicated that he was also considered by Liverpool before they ultimately appointed Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, with a potential deal valued at around £9.4 million.

When questioned about his visit to London, the Portuguese manager admitted, “It was a mistake. The timing was completely wrong.

“I’m always asking my players to be respectful… and I wasn’t — even if I informed the club before.

“I’m so sorry and I apologize to fans, club and players.”
