UCL: Steve Nicol picks team to qualify for semi-final between PSG, Barcelona

Steve Nicol, a former Liverpool star, has predicted that Barcelona will advance to the UEFA Champions League semi-final instead of Paris Saint-Germain.

Nicol made his comments prior to PSG’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg match against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

In an interview with ESPN, Nicol stated that he believes Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions, are currently in superior form compared to PSG.

He said, “I think they [Barcelona] will get [a win] in Spain [in the second leg and knock PSG out of the Champions League].

“I find it difficult to get past the fact that it’s really all about Mbappe. He is good, [only] if he is on his game. The problem is PSG historically in this competition has just bottled it.

“I can’t get past the fact that if Mbappe doesn’t turn up, this team has got no chance. Barcelona are way better now than they’ve been all season. I don’t see PSG getting through.”
