Ganduje: Arewa Group Accuses Gov. Abba Yusuf of Witch-hunting

A political movement in Kano State, Arewa Renaissance Front (ARF), has accused the Governor Abba Yusuf-led administration in Kano State of planning to frame up the immediate past Governor of the State and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on allegations of corruption that are yet to be substantiated.

The ARF raised the alarm through a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Aminu Gawama on Wednesday. The group believes that the Abba Yusuf-led state administration is engaging in a smear campaign against the APC leaders to cover up the Governor’s inability to meet the expectations of the people.

ARF accused Governor Abba Yusuf and his godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of witch-hunting Ganduje through propaganda and state-owned institutions to divert the attention of the people of the state from their inefficiency and cluelessness, which, according to the group, is “plunging the ancient city of Kano, Northern commercial headquarters, into a new theatre of absurdity.”

The group noted that the attacks on the person of Dr Ganduje are a diversionary tactic to prevent the people of Kano State and the general public at large from seeing the startling cluelessness and paralysing inefficiency of the Abba Yusuf-led administration, which has turned governance in the state into a comedy of errors.

ARF expressed concern that the two judicial commissions recently established by the state government to probe the activities of former Governor Ganduje in office, per alleged misappropriation of public assets and political violence, are nothing but a witch hunt. The group wondered why the Governor ordered the commissions to investigate the activities of the Ganduje administration but conveniently exonerated the administration of his godfather, Kwankwaso, from investigation.

ARF stated that Dr Ganduje is not afraid of being probed, as his records of activities while his tenancy lasted as the Governor of Kano State are open for anyone to dissect and peruse. However, the group emphasized that such investigation and probe must be carried out by impartial institutions like the EFCC and the ICPC and not the likes of the commissions handpicked by Governor Yusuf whose final result has long been determined even before the probe begins: To give Dr Ganduje a bad name to hang it. ARF also noted that Dr Ganduje is currently facing the arduous responsibility of repositioning the APC so that it can fulfil the social contract it entered with Nigerians courtesy of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
