In Adamawa State, a tragic incident unfolded as a butcher fatally stabbed his wife with a knife.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar, allegedly accused his wife, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, of taking his phone before committing the heinous act.
Residing in the Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area, the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim in the back during the early hours of Monday, April 8, around 4:30 am, following a minor argument sparked by the phone accusation.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the butcher left his wife in a pool of blood before fleeing the scene.
Nguroje further revealed that the suspect was apprehended following a report by the deceased’s father. Preliminary investigations led to the recovery of material evidence linking the suspect to the crime scene.
The spokesperson mentioned that the suspect confessed to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the gravity of killing his wife and the mother of their only child.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident, assured that the command will diligently prosecute the culprit,” Nguroje said.
