Pelumi Nubi, a 28-year-old travel content creator, has completed her solo road trip from London to Lagos, arriving at her destination.
She was warmly welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of the Lagos State Government by Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
Nubi embarked on her journey on January 31, encountering various challenges along the way. In March, she survived a crash, with footage of the wrecked vehicle displaying significant damage to the front and a shattered windshield.
Starting from England, Nubi crossed into France, Spain, and Morocco, traversing through the West Sahara Desert, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Ghana, Togo, Benin, and finally reaching Lagos.
As a travel content creator, Nubi had listed 77 countries she had visited by the age of 27 in 2022. Her journey has now taken her to over 80 countries out of the 193 in the world.
Reflecting on her adventure, Nubi aimed to demonstrate that “impossible” is merely a word. She emphasized that with enough determination and perseverance, obstacles can be overcome, turning impossibility into possibility.
Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Lagos Governor on Sunday, tweeted: “Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to @peluminubi_, a Nigeria-British citizen who did a solo drive from London to Lagos.
“Pelumi was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government by the Hon Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture @IdrisConnecting.
Welcome home!”
