Insurgency: COAS commends troops’ resilience, assures more support

Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has lauded the troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army for their unwavering resilience and sacrifices in combating terrorism and insurgency in North West Nigeria.

The COAS expressed his commendation on Saturday, April 6, 2024, during an operational visit to the 1 Brigade Area of Responsibility in Gusau, Zamfara State. Here, he received a briefing from Brig Gen Sani Ahmed, the Commander of 1 Brigade, on the troops’ activities and successes in the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity II in Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Gen Lagbaja pledged increased support for the Brigade, including combat enablers and other operational necessities, to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding their Area of Responsibility.

During his visit, the COAS also took the opportunity to extend courtesy to the Emir of Gusau, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Bello Sarkin Katsinan Gusau. He expressed gratitude to the royal father and the people of Gusau for their unwavering support to the troops and the Nigerian Army at large.

Gen Lagbaja reassured that with the continued support and cooperation of the populace, terrorism and insurgency would be overcome.
