Davido Debunks East Africa Arrest Rumours

Nigerian musician Davido denies arrest rumors during East Africa tour on April 1, 2024.

The singer emphasized the importance of addressing false rumors that circulated online on April 1st. He received numerous calls from fans and well-wishers who were concerned for his safety.

 

He, however, affirmed that throughout his career, he has never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world.

Reports emanated from various online sources on Monday, April 1, 2024, alleging that the singer was arrested in East Africa.

But, Davido, reacting in a statement released via his X handle on Tuesday, said that he was not arrested and explained that contrary to reports, he had a successful tour in Kenya and Uganda, and he has now returned to Nigeria.

In the statement tagged ‘Setting record straight on false arrest report’, the singer vehemently condemned the rumours and called it extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fool’ celebration.

He then vowed to take legal action against the fabricators of the rumours.

The statement read in part: “I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation.”
