The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the progress of the ongoing construction of the Akure-Ikere-Ado road.
Umahi conveyed his disappointment, indicating that the level of construction on the motorway fell short of expectations. He revealed that the contractor responsible for the project has been summoned for further instructions.
Highlighting the significance of federal roads in both states, Umahi emphasized the federal government’s commitment to accelerating the construction and rehabilitation processes. He pledged to prioritize the timely completion of these projects to stimulate the economic growth of the respective states.
Umahi reassured residents of the states that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its dedication to enhancing road infrastructure nationwide. He underscored the government’s determination to intensify efforts to ensure the projects are completed according to schedule.
“These roads are major corridors to evacuate a lot of commercial produce from Benin to Lokoja and the southern part of the country.
“We have looked at the roads, and we are coming back. My team will give it all the desired attention.”
