Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, a House of Representatives member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency and also the Chairman of the House Committee on Interior, has threatened legal action against Air Peace Limited over an alleged breach of contract.
According to Ahmed, he paid approximately N12 million for a business class ticket for himself and his family for a trip from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. However, he claimed that Air Peace downgraded their seats to economy class without compensation.
Ahmed expressed his dissatisfaction with Air Peace’s frequent delays, flight disruptions, and sudden schedule changes. He recounted that their scheduled departure from Kano airport on March 27 was delayed until the following day.
The lawmaker stated that his intention to pursue legal action against Air Peace is to address the mistreatment experienced by passengers in the Nigerian aviation sector.
Another affected passenger, Ibrahim Shehu, urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and relevant government bodies to intervene and facilitate the recovery of funds paid to Air Peace by affected travelers.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no immediate comment from Air Peace. Stanley Olisa, the spokesman of the airline, did not respond to enquiries made by Daily Trust.
