In the first quarter, the Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made significant strides, arresting 279 suspects and confiscating 2,092.5 kilograms of illicit substances.
Samaila Danmalam, the State Commander of NDLEA, disclosed this to reporters in Kaduna on Saturday. Among those apprehended were drug traffickers, dealers, and users, with 39 illicit drug joints dismantled across various locations in the state.
The operations resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, cannabis, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances, totaling 2,092.5 kilograms.
Furthermore, the command achieved 48 convictions, arraigned 68 suspects, and charged 34 others during the same period.
In addition to enforcement efforts, the command conducted rehabilitation, counseling, and awareness programs to educate the public about the hazards associated with illicit substance use and trafficking.
Danmalam urged the public to abstain from illicit drug activities and encouraged citizens to provide valuable and timely information to support the command’s mission in the state.
