Ligue 1: Nantes boss, Kombouare laments Moses Simon’s injury

Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré has voiced his dismay following the injury setback suffered by Moses Simon.

Simon will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after sustaining an ankle fracture during Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly loss to Mali on Tuesday.

The winger underwent a successful surgery on Friday and faces a recovery period of up to three months.

A crucial player for the Canaries, who are currently battling relegation in Ligue 1, the absence of the 28-year-old is a significant blow, acknowledged by Kombouaré.

“We are sad for him (Simon) because he wanted to come back and help the team,” Kombouare told the club’s website.

“That is not the case. Now we have to do without him.

“It’s a huge blow for the team.”

Simon has scored three goals and provided six assists in 22 league appearances for the Canaries this season.
