Gumi confirms invitation by DSS, others

Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has confirmed his invitation by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his comments on bandit activities in Nigeria. He described the invitation as necessary and stated that he had a productive interaction with the security agents during questioning.

Gumi emphasized the importance of dialogue with bandits, particularly in light of recent abductions in Kaduna State. He urged President Bola Tinubu not to repeat the mistake of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who refused to engage in dialogue with bandits.

Regarding the abduction of children from Kuriga Government Secondary and LEA Primary Schools in Kaduna, Gumi clarified that no ransom was paid for their release.

In a social media post titled “Only one person is above the law: The Innocent!” Gumi reassured the public, stating, “There is absolutely no cause for alarm.” He emphasized the need for unity and synergy to achieve lasting peace in the nation.

Gumi has previously acted as a negotiator for state governments in securing the release of abducted persons. He condemned the Federal Government’s inclusion of his associate, Tukur Mamu, in a list of persons linked with terrorism financing, asserting that only a court of competent jurisdiction can make such allegations.
