Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions, and the National Association of Academic Technologists of the University of Lagos staged a peaceful protest in front of the school’s gate on Wednesday.
They effectively halted vehicular movement and disrupted the flow of traffic in the vicinity.
Displaying various placards and singing, they voiced their grievances against the Federal Government for withholding their salaries.
For approximately a month, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SSANU and NASU had been drawing attention to their exclusion from the salary payments that began for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in February.
Their salaries had been withheld when the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari implemented a ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ against ASUU, SSANU, and NAATS, who had engaged in strikes lasting eight months, four months, and five-and-a-half months respectively in 2022.
In addition, NAATS initiated a three-day warning strike today, joining the protest action.
