The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully prosecuted and secured the conviction of four individuals involved in internet fraud.
In a Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Darius Khobo, Mohammed Ibrahim, Ibrahim Yusuf, Mubàrak Ibrahim, and Olorunfemi Samuel were convicted and sentenced on Tuesday.
Each of the convicts faced separate one-count charges related to fraudulent activities and cheating by impersonation.
Upon the reading of the charges, all four defendants pleaded “guilty”.
Prosecution counsel, M.E Eimonye, urged the court to proceed with conviction and sentencing accordingly.
In response, Justice Khobo sentenced Ibrahim to two years imprisonment with the option of a fine of N150,000.00.
Samuel received a five-year prison sentence or the option to pay a fine of N150,000.00, along with restitution of $205 to his victim.
Mohammed was sentenced to two years imprisonment or a fine of N150,000.00, while Yusuf was sentenced to two years imprisonment or a fine of N100,000.00.
