Olubadan: He left good legacies – Oyo senator mourns Oba Balogun

Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, has expressed condolences over the passing of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, acknowledging the enduring legacy he leaves behind.

Representing the Oyo South Senatorial District, Alli conveyed his sentiments through a statement released on Friday following the demise of Oba Balogun on Thursday.

The late monarch, who served as the representative for Oyo Central Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003, is remembered by Alli as leaving behind indelible legacies that will be cherished for years to come.

Describing the loss as monumental, Alli emphasized the profound impact Oba Balogun had on the community, ensuring his memory lives on beyond his passing.

“It is a monumental loss not only for the people of Ibadan, but for the entire state.

“Balogun’s relatively short but impactful reign marked a period of unity, progress and community development.

“I join the people of Ibadanland in mourning the loss of a beloved monarch and leader. I stand in solidarity with the community in honouring the legacy and contributions of Oba Balogun,” he said.
