Northern Senators Forum appoints Yar’Adua new chairman

The Northern Senators Forum has appointed Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua as its new chairman, following the resignation of Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi.

Senator Yar’Adua, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), currently represents Katsina Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Additionally, the forum has designated Senator Tahir Mungono, who represents Borno North, as its spokesperson, replacing Senator Sumaila Kawu. Senator Kawu had been cautioned by the Senate to refrain from sharing posts that could incite unrest in the country.

Senator Ningi cited unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the nation as reasons for his resignation. He had previously been suspended for three months following his remarks about the alleged untraceable N3.7 trillion in the 2024 budget.

“I will like to resign my position as the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum. This is of course necessitated by unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North and the Nation at large,” he said
