Ondo 2024: SSG to Akeredolu’s Govt endorses Jimoh Ibrahim

Princess Oladunni Odu, a former Secretary to the Ondo State Government and a gubernatorial aspirant, has decided to dissolve her political structure to throw her support behind Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, a prominent contender, in preparation for the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state.

Back in September 2023, Princess Odu had formally declared her ambition to seek the APC ticket for the November 16 gubernatorial election.

However, she recently announced her decision during a meeting with her Coordinators and key party figures in the South Senatorial District in Okitipupa over the weekend.

Odu affirmed her commitment to ensuring Senator Ibrahim’s success in the April primary and urged her supporters, affiliated with the “Iwajowa Political Group,” to collaborate and actively work with Ibrahim’s “Aseyori Group.”

This strategic move follows her earlier directive to supporters in the Central Senatorial District to rally behind Ibrahim’s candidacy for the party’s primary.

One of the Coordinators, Chief Alaba Onayajo said “the Iwajowa Political Group has been directed by our leader and founder, Princess Oladunni Odu, to start working and mobilising for Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.

“The primary goal of Iwajowa Political Group now is to make sure Senator Jimoh Ibrahim emerge victorious in the April party’s primary and since we have received the instruction, work has started in earnest.

“As directed by Mama(Princess Oladunni Odu) in the meeting, we are ready. We have resolved to work together with the Aseyori Group.”

The Iwajowa leader caucus meeting was attended by Hon (Prince) Banjo Ayelomi, Comrade Olusola Johnbosco , Chief Olasemojo s o,Mrs Gbojubola (woman leader Ondo East), Hon. Aduwo sehindemi. (State ex-officio), Hon. Ikuedowo Ayokunle (immediate past councilor ward 2 okitipupa), High chief Iwayemi Akinrinbola. (leader), Hon Orire Japhet, Hon Arikawe Gbenga, Mr Adesanoye Alaba (aka. chop alone) and five local governments women leaders.

Odu, 71, had since 1995 served at various times as commissioner with three different military administrations in Ondo State.

She also served as the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), before her appointment as the first female SSG in the history of Ondo state.
