Benue govt grants financial autonomy to state legislature, judiciary

The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has endorsed financial autonomy for both the legislative and judiciary branches of government. 

This announcement was conveyed to journalists on Thursday by Mr. Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, at the Government House in Makurdi.

Kula revealed that this decision was part of the resolutions reached during the state’s Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday. 

He further highlighted that the governor, in the meeting, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to infrastructural development, and timely payment of salaries, and pensions, asserting that these priorities would remain at the forefront of the administration.

Additionally, Kula shared the government’s intention to initiate savings for unforeseen circumstances, stating that the Executive Council approved the establishment of the Benue Subnational Fund to accumulate funds for challenging times.
