Accord Party chieftain, Peller joins PDP in Oyo

Shina Abiola Peller, the Accord Party’s senatorial candidate for Oyo North in the 2023 general elections, has officially joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state. Peller’s induction into the PDP took place on Thursday in Iseyin, his hometown and former constituency as a member of the House of Representatives.

Peller, who served as the representative for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola federal constituency from 2019 to 2023, made the transition from Accord to PDP in an event attended by the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

The governor, represented by his Deputy, Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, expressed confidence in the strength and unity of the PDP in Oyo State. Makinde asserted that the party would emerge victorious in the upcoming local government elections due to his administration’s people-centric initiatives.

He urged PDP members, especially in Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso, to embrace and support the defectors warmly, emphasizing the need for unity within the party to ensure its continued growth and strength, as he believed there was ample space for everyone to contribute.

“I want to greet our party leaders and elders who are here at this event. Being progressive without power is zero but we want power in Iseyinland, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso and Oyo State in general.

“This is why Shina Peller is joining the party that gives power to the people.

“When you are looking for something within a particular place and you didn’t get it, won’t you leave the place and go to another place where you can find it?

“I want to assure Peller that he and other followers won’t regret joining the PDP and a lot of benefits will come to them, undoubtedly,” he said.
