The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasized the significance of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps (NAIC) in the battle against insurgency and various criminal activities.
In a statement on Thursday, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, conveyed that Lagbaja made this assertion during the inauguration of facilities at the NAIC Headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja.
Commending the officers and soldiers of the corps for their invaluable service to the army and the nation, the army chief urged them to persist in their efforts towards achieving their goals.
Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja charged the personnel to maintain diligence in the execution of their duties, highlighting the crucial role the corps plays in the broader spectrum of national security and intelligence operations.
Assuring support, he pledged to provide the necessary equipment, training, and technology to enhance their effectiveness in gathering, analyzing, and disseminating vital intelligence.
The Chief of Army Staff expressed confidence that by bolstering the NAIC with robust support for intelligence-driven operations, the army would effectively overcome the security challenges facing the country.
“A well-equipped and proficient NAIC is essential for maintaining a safer and more secure Nigeria,” he said.
