Ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas has insisted that he is not convinced Kai Havertz having a standout season at the club, despite the German’s recent impressive performances. Arsenal invested £65 million in signing Havertz from Chelsea last summer.
Although he initially faced challenges justifying his hefty fee and winning over fans, the 24-year-old has gradually solidified his position as a crucial player in Arsenal’s starting lineup.
Havertz even found the net in Arsenal’s recent 4-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle last weekend. However, Gallas remains unconvinced about the player’s late-season form.
“At the beginning, I didn’t understand why Arsenal signed him,” Gallas told Lord Ping.
“We were talking about players that are moving from one English club to another, Kai Havertz from Chelsea to Arsenal, normally he should not need time to adapt, like Declan Rice.
“Even though he’s scored in his last few games, I’m not convinced he’ll have a great season. What is a great season for him?”
