Amaka Anulia and Kelechi Anyinwa, accused of assaulting and intimidating two police officers, appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday.
The defendants, Anulia (33) and Anyinwa (38), are charged with conspiracy, resisting lawful arrest, and assault, as outlined in a three-count charge.
According to Prosecutor Insp Reuben Solomon, the alleged offences took place on February 20 at No 46, Towolawi St., Coker, Surulere, Lagos.
The defendants reportedly assaulted two police officers, ASP Afolabi Olushola and ASP Gladys Nnaji, who were attempting to invite Anulia for questioning regarding an alleged offence of obtaining money under false pretences.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Solomon informed the court that the offences were in violation of Sections 172, 174, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
Magistrate Mrs Sanusi Adagun granted bail to the defendants at N100,000 each, with two reliable sureties each who must be gainfully employed.
The court directed that the addresses of the sureties be verified and adjourned the case until March 18 for further proceedings.
