The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) extended invitations to 26 players for a training camp in preparation for the upcoming African Games in Ghana, on Saturday.
The senior men’s handball national team has commenced rigorous training sessions in Abuja as they gear up for the 13th Africa Games. Following their recent victory at the Africa Handball Nations Cup in Egypt, where they secured the President’s Cup, the team is set to be Nigeria’s sole representative in the handball event at the African Games.
Coach Solomon Yola expressed confidence to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), assuring that the players are well-prepared to represent the country effectively in Ghana.
“These players have been busy with training since the beginning of the year and they also participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
”We will use this camping as a medium to correct all the lapses we observed before now.
”All the departments of the team will be thoroughly reinforced before we leave Nigeria for Ghana for the tournament,” Yola said.
The 26 players invited to camp included Joseph Gbawuan, Daniel Bello, Mohammed Anas, Salami Damilare, Shagari John, Solomon Agbaji, Dikko Ibrahim, Ojo Nohuoman, Iortyer Stephen, Olaye Mathew, Ani Obinna, Mohammed Abbas, Okwor Obinna, Cole Gbenga, Yusuf Faruk, Rotibi Gbenga, Sunday Samson, Adamolugbe.
The rest are: Babatunde, Dele Gbenga, Igwekire Joseph, Atabo Sunday, Foloki Christian. Kasim Yazid, Ajibike Akanni, Sulaimon Olaitan and Nwaiwu Patrick.
