Jigawa House of Assembly resolves crisis, passes vote of confidence on Speaker

In a decisive move aimed at resolving the recent crisis within the Jigawa State House of Assembly, lawmakers unanimously expressed their confidence in the incumbent Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, during a session on Wednesday.

The legislative body, which had been contending with internal conflicts and tension in recent weeks, experienced a significant turning point as its members united to reaffirm their trust in Speaker Haruna Aliyu’s leadership.

Reports had indicated that some Assembly members were contemplating impeaching the speaker due to allegations of poor leadership.

The resounding support for the vote of confidence reflects a collective commitment among the lawmakers to foster stability and unity within the legislative assembly.

The motion for the vote was initiated by Hamza Ibrahim, representing Mallam/Madori Local Government Area, and was seconded by Abdu Ila, representing Garki Local Government Area.

Mr. Ibrahim asserted that under Mr. Aliyu’s leadership, the Eighth Assembly was fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities and collaborating with the state government’s efforts to advance the development of the state.

The atmosphere in the assembly hall shifted from uncertainty to a sense of solidarity as legislators demonstrated their determination to work cohesively for the greater good of Jigawa State.
