Wigwe’s death: US aviation agency gives update into chopper crash

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has provided an update on the air mishap that resulted in the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc.

The FAA has announced its intention to be part of the investigations into the incident that claimed Wigwe’s life. The helicopter crash occurred in California near the Nevada border, with Wigwe, his wife, and son on board, along with Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc.

According to the FAA, the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter crashed around 10 pm California time (Saturday, 7 am Nigerian time). However, the FAA specified that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would lead the investigation and provide any necessary updates.

Local news source KTLA 5 News reported that the helicopter took off from Palm Springs, although its destination remained unclear. While one of the helicopters carried Wigwe and his family, the second helicopter reportedly had Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Wigwe’s business partner and former Access Bank CEO, along with Tunde Folawiyo, a business mogul.
