Troops from the 93 Battalion, operating under the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, successfully apprehended a suspected female kidnapper attempting to collect ransom in Taraba State. Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the spokesperson for the Bridget, revealed that the troops also nabbed a notorious gunrunner, Joshua Dutse Idah, involved in arms and ammunition trade, supplying criminals in Taraba State and other regions.
The female suspect was reportedly married to a notorious criminal, the second-in-command to the late Hana Terwase. According to Olubodunde, the arrest of Joshua Dutse Idah occurred in Ibbi town of Ibbi Local Government Area as he was en route to Kaduna State in a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle. During the arrest, troops discovered 1 PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines in his possession.
Interrogation revealed that Dutse was heading to Katsina State to deliver AK-47 rifles, having received a partial payment of N300,000. Another arrest involved a female suspected kidnapper, Janet Igohia, aged 31, who was apprehended after receiving N1.5 million as ransom payment in Chanchangi area, Takum LGA.
Igohia disclosed her association with Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase. She is presently married to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba, having been previously married to high-profile criminals, including the late Terkibi Gemaga and Gana Terwase.
Furthermore, troops deployed in Mararaba Baissa community, Donga LGA, arrested two additional suspected gunrunners implicated in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling. The suspects, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (40 years old) and Usman Isah (44 years old), were found in possession of N600,000 during the arrest.
