Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel recently revealed his all-time African XI from the Premier League during the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. Notably, the list does not feature legends such as Arsenal’s Nwankwo Kanu and former Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, and surprisingly, Mikel did not include himself.
The retired Super Eagles captain shared his Premier League all-time African XI on his podcast, The Obi One, and posted it on his Instagram account on Tuesday. The formation is 4-2-1-3, with the following lineup:
Goalkeeper (GK): Édouard Mendy
Left Back (LB): Celestine Babayaro
Center Backs (CB): Kolo Toure, Lucas Radebe
Right Back (RB): Lauren
Central Midfielders (CM): Michael Essien, Yaya Toure
Attacking Midfielder (CAM): Jay-Jay Okocha
