An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan remanded Olumide Monday, 44, in a correctional facility over the alleged murder of Usman Bala, 35. Monday’s residential address was not provided during the proceedings.
The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, refrained from taking the plea of the defendant due to jurisdictional limitations. He instructed the police to return the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until March 27 for mention. The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, informed the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Feb. 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Iwo Road area, Ibadan. Amusan claimed that Monday unlawfully caused the death of Bala by stabbing him in the buttocks, a violation of Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
