Having secured a spot in the semi-final stage by defeating Angola 1-0 in Friday night’s match, the Super Eagles have ensured a $2.5 million payout for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Confederation of African Football has disclosed the monetary rewards for nations participating in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
The champion of AFCON 2023 will claim a grand prize of $7 million, while the runners-up will receive $4 million. Both losing semi-finalists, including Nigeria, are set to earn $2.5 million each.
Moving down the ranks, the four losing quarter-finalists will pocket $1.3 million each. Meanwhile, the eight teams eliminated in the round of 16 will be granted $800,000 each.
With their ambition to clinch the trophy for the fourth time with the rallying cry “Let’s do it again,” the NFF stands to gain an additional $7 million if the dream comes true.
