Gunmen strike again in Abuja, kidnap two

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted two teenage sisters in Guita community, Chikakore, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The incident occurred just eight days after Chikakore residents protested the deteriorating state of the major road connecting their community, which they attribute to a surge in kidnappings.

Sources reveal that the kidnappers, numbering six, seized the 16 and 14-year-old girls despite the presence of military and police patrols in the area. The assailants, who altered their tactics, forcibly took three children from a man’s home but released one boy while demanding a N30 million ransom for the girls.

A police source confirmed the incident, noting the change in the gunmen’s approach, emphasizing that the victims’ father, a prominent security figure in the community, had been targeted. Despite efforts by vigilantes to trace the kidnappers, they vanished, leaving no trace.

Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, assured SaharaReporters that she would gather details and provide updates on the situation.
