Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, on Tuesday, inaugurated the new Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal. During the swearing-in ceremony at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, the governor affirmed his commitment to collaborating with anti-graft agencies to combat corruption within the state judiciary and the civil service at large.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Sani emphasized that complaints from the grassroots regarding alleged misconduct by lower court judges were unacceptable. He urged the newly appointed Grand Khadi, Mohammed Aminu Danjuma, to diligently work towards enhancing discipline among the staff of the Sharia Court of Appeal, especially those in the lower courts who directly serve the public.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude to the National Judiciary Council for recommending Danjuma, a highly experienced legal practitioner and distinguished scholar of Islamic law, for the position of Grand Khadi. He expressed confidence that Danjuma would elevate the Sharia Court of Appeal, transforming it into a true bastion of justice for the citizens of Kaduna State.
“Our administration is committed to ensuring the rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Kaduna State. We shall continue to give the judiciary the support it needs to perform optimally and ensure access to justice for our citizens,” he said.
To serve the people better and advance social justice, Sani said there must be synergy between the executive and the judiciary.
Danjuma promised to ensure discipline in the Shariah justice system.
