Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, announced the arrival of the CMA CGM SCANDOLA, a 14,812 TEUs container vessel powered by LNG, at Lekki Deep Sea Port.
Jibril Gawat, Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, conveyed in a statement that the container vessel was successfully berthed at the port on Monday. With an overall length (LOA) of 366 meters and a width of 51 meters, it stands as the first LNG-powered container vessel to navigate to West Africa, having previously docked in Tema before arriving at Lekki Port.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the efforts of Lekki Port’s management, Lekki Freeport Terminal, and CMA CGM, hailing the development as “a major feat in the Nigerian maritime industry.” He acknowledged the continuous achievements since the port’s commissioning.
This milestone follows closely on the heels of the Nigerian government successfully berthing the largest vessel at Lekki Sea Port just a week earlier.
