Alleged murder of girlfriend: Chinese national knows fate March 29

A judgment in the case involving Frank Geng Quangrong, a Chinese national accused of killing his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani, 22, has been reserved by the Kano State High Court.

According to NAN reports, the defendant, residing in Railway Quarters Kano, faces charges of culpable homicide. Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji adjourned the proceedings until March 29 for judgment following the completion of final written addresses by the prosecution and defense counsels, Muhammad Dan’azumi and Aisha Mahmoud.

It’s worth noting that the prosecution concluded its case against the defendant on December 21, 2022, after presenting six witnesses. The defendant, in turn, closed his case with two witnesses, one of whom was a Urologist named Dr. Abdullahi Abubakar. During his testimony, the accused claimed that the late Ummukulsum had attacked him with a knife.

“While I was defending myself, Ummukulsum bit me on my arm and finger and also injured me on my genital,” Frank said.

The defendant was alleged to have stabbed the deceased with a knife in her house at Janbulo Quarters Kano, on Sept. 16, 2022.

The offence, the prosecution said, contravenes the provisions of Section 221(b) of the Penal Code law.
