Some unknown gunmen stormed Otu Town in the Oke Ogun zone of Oyo State on Saturday morning, kidnapped two persons and injured one through gunshots.
Residents of the town in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state were thrown into pandemonium in the wee hours of the night when the gunmen started shooting sporadically. The two were abducted at different locations in the town.
The two people kidnapped were Mr Dayo Olayanju and wife of Mr Kehinde Obasola. The husband was said to have escaped with gunshots. The whereabouts of the kidnapped victims have not been known as at the time of filing this report.
A community leader who preferred anonymity said that the incident was true, adding, “It is true. It happened around 2 am today. They were kidnapped in different areas. One was kidnapped along Okeho Road.
I have confirmed it. The two people kidnapped are Dayo Olayanju and wife of Kehinde Obasola. Kehinde Obasola escaped with gunshots but his wife was kidnapped.”
Efforts made to get reaction from the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso (SP) proved abortive, as calls put made to his telephone line were not answered. The text message sent had not also been responded to as at the time of filing the report.
