Ekiti govt approves restructuring of ring road to avert demolition of houses

The Commissioner for Information in Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, has provided assurance to residents of Iworoko, Are, and Afao Ekiti that the Ekiti Ring Road Phase I project has undergone restructuring to prevent the demolition of houses in the communities through which the construction works will pass.

In Ado Ekiti, Olatunbosun emphasized the Biodun Oyebanji administration’s commitment to the overall well-being of the people while rapidly advancing the State’s development. He affirmed that the state government would not take any actions that might jeopardize the economy, peace, and tranquility of the residents.

While underlining the government’s unwavering commitment to standards, Olatunbosun explained that, in accordance with international best practices, a ring road is a road or a network of connected roads encircling a town, city, or country. He stressed that the primary purpose of a ring road is to alleviate traffic congestion in urban centers by providing an alternative route around the city for drivers not intending to stop in the city core.

He expressed the government’s focus on state development and the improvement of the people’s conditions through efficient techniques, methods, processes, or technology to manage waste and ensure the safety of both people and the environment.

Olatunbosun called for continued support and understanding from all stakeholders, urging residents to take ownership of projects in their respective areas with a sense of collective responsibility to protect their interests.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, reassured residents of Iworoko, Are, Afao, and other communities along the proposed Ring Road that the restructuring is in their best interest and will not diminish any value accruable to their respective communities.

Adebayo highlighted that the road would enhance socio-economic activities in the communities, facilitating accelerated development. He sought the support of all stakeholders for the successful completion of the Ring Road project, emphasizing that continuous support from the people is essential for the government’s efforts to develop the State and achieve its goals.
