Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has revealed the key elements he believes will lead to success for the team in their upcoming clash against hosts Cote d’Ivoire at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Peseiro emphasized the importance of good organization, maintaining the team’s distinctive style of play, and expressing themselves effectively on the field. Ahead of Thursday’s match at the Alassane Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, the Portuguese coach highlighted the need for a strong showing against the Elephants.
“We are expecting a great match, a full stadium, and a fantastic atmosphere as well. We need to play with good organization, be compact in our approach, and express ourselves as well,” Peseiro stated during a press conference on Wednesday.
Reflecting on the team’s previous game against Equatorial Guinea, Peseiro acknowledged the need for improvement in finishing and decision-making. He emphasized the importance of taking good decisions inside and around the box while being more composed in front of goal.
“We created so many chances against Equatorial Guinea, but we must improve our finishing. Also, we need to make good decisions, do well with the final ball, and be more composed in front of goal. Most importantly, we must manage the ball well and defend well too,” Peseiro added.
