CISLAC urges FG to fish out Edu, Farouq’s alleged accomplices

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC, has urged both the Federal Government and anti-corruption agencies to uncover the alleged collaborators of Minister Betta Edu of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as her predecessor, Sadiya Farouq.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, CISLAC’s Executive Director, Auwal Rafsanjani, emphasized the need to investigate those who potentially aided the purported fraud committed by both ministers. Rafsanjani stressed the importance of uncovering these individuals to fully grasp the extent of the situation.

He expressed disappointment that a ministry designed to assist citizens found itself embroiled in alleged fund diversions, emphasizing the need for comprehensive reforms across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). Rafsanjani highlighted that these alleged fund diversions weren’t exclusive to the humanitarian ministry alone.

Additionally, the rights activists praised the Federal Government for initiating probes into both the current and former ministers. He emphasized the importance of taking these investigations seriously, particularly due to the country’s financial challenges, asserting that addressing these issues is crucial in the current economic situation.

“We will not let this matter die; this is one of the many of it,” Rafsanjani said.
