Arsenal is currently engaged in discussions with FC Nantes regarding the potential recall of Marquinhos during this January transfer window. This move aims to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attacking choices for the latter half of the season.
Marquinhos, who embarked on a season-long loan to the French Ligue 1 club last August, has experienced limited opportunities, securing only one start since then. Despite signing a long-term contract with the Gunners in the summer of 2022, the 20-year-old forward could possibly make an early return to the North London Premier League club, as reported by L’Équipe.
During his time at Arsenal, Marquinhos has featured in six matches so far. His impactful debut included a goal and an assist in a Europa League triumph against FC Zurich.
Meanwhile, Arteta lauded Marquinhos after that match, saying: “He is a player that is very popular, with no English, just with his smile and attitude has won the respect and admiration of everybody here.”
