US gymnast Simone Biles and Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic clinched the titles of AIPS Athletes of the Year for the 2023 season, following a comprehensive poll conducted by AIPS. A distinguished panel consisting of 405 journalists representing 107 nations cast their votes.
Simone Biles, renowned for her exceptional achievements in gymnastics, secured the top spot with an overwhelming 353 votes, reflecting her remarkable accomplishments throughout the year. Kenyan middle-distance runner Faith Kipyegon closely followed in second place with 329 votes, while Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati secured the third position with 297 votes.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic, recognized as an eminent figure in tennis and sports in general, triumphed in this year’s edition with an impressive total of 616 points. His unmatched prowess on the tennis court solidified his standing as one of the greatest champions in sports history.
Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis secured the second position with 335 points, while Argentinian football maestro Lionel Messi claimed the third spot with 277 points.
