2024 appropriation bill will tackle hunger – Sen. Adeola

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, assured Nigerians that the proposed 2024 appropriation bill totaling N28.7 trillion aims to eradicate hunger in the nation.

Adeola conveyed this commitment on Wednesday during a New Year celebration he organized in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, to express gratitude to his supporters.

Highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to alleviating the economic challenges faced by Nigerians, Adeola emphasized the swift approval of the 2024 budget as evidence of this commitment.

Of the N28.7 trillion budget endorsed by the president, Adeola underscored that over N300 billion has been allocated to the agriculture sector alone. He emphasized that this substantial allocation signals the seriousness of the present administration’s intentions.

Furthermore, Adeola highlighted the emphasis on intensified food production in the country throughout the year 2024 as a pivotal focus.

”What that simply means is that the government of the day is determined to end hunger in the country and will be doing so much in the area of food production.

“President Tinubu has even, in a way by proxy, supported school feeding in our various schools across the country, and in doing that, local production of food in the country is ensured.

“Also in ending hunger in the land, we (the lawmakers) have done so much in the appropriation act that was just recently signed by Mr President to ensure food security in Nigeria,” he said.
