Former Abia Central district Senator, Darlington Nwokocha, has once more voiced his dismay over the Appeal Court’s ruling that ousted him from office.
Nwokocha, elected in February under the Labour Party, was removed on November 4, as the Appeal Court declared Col Austin Akobundu (Rtd) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner.
Despite the two-month period since his ousting, Nwokocha remains deeply affected by the decision.
During a live radio interview on Family Love 99.9 FM Umuahia, Nwokocha expressed astonishment at his removal, emphasizing his extensive acceptance and popularity among the people of Abia Central.
He conveyed surprise at the Appeal Court’s reluctance to reconsider its decision despite the evidence he presented, deeming the legal basis for his removal “inconsistent with legal proceedings.”
“I am still bewildered by such a judgment. It continues to surprise me,” lamented Nwokocha.
His hopes for reinstatement by the Supreme Court were dashed when the apex court redirected his case back to the Appeal Court.
Nwokocha, recently welcomed back by his constituents, relinquished control to a higher power, placing his trust in God.
Furthermore, he praised the political unity between Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Kalu, emphasizing the necessity of camaraderie between LP and APC figures for the development of Abia State.
