Plateau killings planned to cause political, religious unrest— Sultan-led Group, Jama’atul Nasiril Islam

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), a group led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed deep concern over the recent spate of killings in Plateau State, suggesting that the attacks were carefully planned to ignite political and religious unrest in the region.

In a statement released by Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the secretary of the JNI, the group condemned the heinous attacks in Barkin Ladi and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau State. The statement called on security agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators responsible for the violent acts.

The JNI emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the killings, raising the possibility that the attacks were orchestrated with ulterior motives aimed at destabilizing the state both politically and religiously.

The statement read, “It should be noted that after careful introspection and critical perusal of the sad happenings of the recent senseless killings of over one hundred unarmed citizens on the Plateau, the JNI National Headquarters observed with dismay that the most recent attacks on the Plateau were well-orchestrated with perhaps ulterior motives to set the state on political and religious turmoil.”

Expressing sorrow and concern, the JNI called for decisive action from the government and security agencies to bring the culprits to justice. The group highlighted the alarming frequency of such attacks, citing incidents in Kaduna State and other parts of the North, urging the government to take a firm stance against criminal activities that threaten the peace and security of the nation.

The statement further emphasized the sanctity of human life, criticizing the apparent disregard for human lives in Nigeria. The JNI urged the government to uphold the principles of justice and ensure that criminals are held accountable for their actions.

In a plea to the people of Plateau State, the JNI called for unity and a rejection of violence, urging citizens to stand against those who seek to exploit them for their own agenda. The group reiterated the importance of peace and coexistence, urging the Plateau people to reject any attempts to return to the dark days of bloodshed.

In conclusion, the JNI invoked divine intervention, praying for the restoration of peace, security, and tranquility in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
