INEC Issues Certificates of Return To Plateau State Assembly Members-Elect

INEC handed out certificates of return on Saturday to 16 members-elect of the Plateau State House of Assembly, following the Court of Appeal’s decision to nullify the initial declarations made by INEC after the March 18 elections.

Among these 16 members-elect, 15 are from the All Progressives Congress (APC), while one represents the Labour Party.

Dr. Oliver Agundu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Plateau INEC, confirmed that the certificate distribution aligned with the directives from the Appeal Court, which identified these lawmakers as the legitimate winners.

Agundu congratulated the incoming lawmakers on their electoral victories and extended best wishes as they commenced their service to the state.

Chief Rufus Bature, the APC State Chairman, highlighted the significance of the Appeal Court’s ruling in reinforcing the electoral process and fortifying Nigeria’s democratic principles.

Bature advised the incoming lawmakers to uphold grace in their victory, steering clear of actions that might undermine other political parties in the state.

“Our primary focus should always be the welfare of Plateau. We must prioritize our democracy as a collective interest,” he emphasized.

Mr. Sunday Naah, the Member-elect for Jos North West, acknowledged the high expectations of citizens and pledged his full commitment to fostering growth not only in his constituency but also across the state.

Naah reassured his constituents of his dedication to formulating impactful legislation aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the people of Jos North West Constituency.
