Nasarawa Assembly passes N199.9bn 2024 Budget

Governor Abdullahi Sule’s proposed 2024 Appropriation Bill of N199.9 billion has been approved by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Speaker Danladi Jatau announced the passing of the bill during the House proceedings in Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday.

Breaking down the budget, N117,138,350,954.18 is designated for Recurrent Expenditure, while N82,741,019,755.25 is allocated for Capital Expenditure.

In his statement, Jatau declared, “The 2024 Appropriation Bill is read for the third term and passed.”

The Speaker commended the house for their determination and commitment to ensuring the swift passage of the 2024 Appropriation Bill into law.

He called to attention the collaboration between the legislative, executive, and judicial arms of government as a positive indicator of unity and synergy for the state’s overall development.

“I want to appreciate you all for your efforts in ensuring the speedy passage of the bill.

“This shows a sign of unity and synergy with the executive and judicial arms of government.

“We will continue to work in synergy with the state government for the overall development of the state.” He said.

Jatau urged the state government to ensure the full implementation of the budget upon the governor’s assent, directing the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor’s formal approval.

The Majority Leader of the House, Suleiman Azara, moved a motion for the passage of the bill into law, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Luka Zhekaba.
