Man arraigned for allegedly killing father in Kwara

The Nigeria Police Force brought a 23-year-old man, Saidi Musa, before a Kwara State Magistrates Court in Ilorin, accusing him of the alleged murder of his father, Chief Musa, the Elemosho of Shareland in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Saidi stands trial for culpable homicide, accused of fatally attacking his father with a machete, reportedly provoked by his father’s curses.

During the court session, Police Prosecutor Abdullah Sanni argued that due to the nature of the offense being culpable homicide, bail wasn’t appropriate. He urged the court to consider the Police First Information Report’s attached motion ex-parte and order the defendant’s remand in a correctional facility.

Chief Magistrate Alhaji Mohammed Dasuki, in a brief ruling, ordered Saidi’s remand and scheduled the next hearing for January 9, 2024, for further proceedings.
