EFCC calls for financial discipline, integrity in MDAs

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), emphasized the critical need for enhanced financial discipline and integrity in steering the operations of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across Nigeria.

Expressing this during a meeting at the Commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, where he welcomed a delegation from the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria led by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, Olukoyede underscored the significance of financial discipline and integrity as essential components for fostering economic growth and development in the country.

He urged MDAs to bolster their financial reporting practices, emphasizing the EFCC’s commitment to intensifying efforts toward ensuring internal compliance and ethical conduct within these organizations.

“By virtue of the financial investigations we are doing, we discovered a lot of malpractices in financial reporting, particularly in the MDAs, so we are starting with internal cleansing before we move to corporate bodies,” he said.

He emphasized that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was serious about moving the country forward and all appointees of the government must demonstrate more responsibility and integrity in carrying out their assignments.

“We believe the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very serious. By the virtue of the appointment he has been making, he will move this country forward,” he added.
