The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro’s initial squad of 41 players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF made the roster public on its official website early Wednesday, including three local players: Ojo Olorunleke, Amas Obasogie, and Christian Nwoke.
Peseiro is slated to finalize his squad by January 3, following the directive from the CAF Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations. Each of the 24 teams competing will be allowed a final squad of 27 players.
It’s important to note that the inclusion of four additional players in the final squad is an option, not a requirement, as per the committee’s decision.
The tournament itself is scheduled to run from January 13 to February 11, 2024, across several Ivorian cities including Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro.
