Man dies one week to priestly ordination after cryptic message

Mr. Hillary Tobechukwu Eze, a seminarian of the Nsukka Catholic Diocese, tragically passed away just a week shy of his anticipated ordination as a deacon, leaving the church, his family, and friends deeply saddened by his untimely loss.

Scheduled for ordination as a deacon on December 23rd, 2023, Eze met with a fatal accident last Friday, abruptly ending his journey. A native of Ehalumona town in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, his life was cut short while traveling with his companions for their ordination retreat.

In the days preceding his demise, Eze had shared cryptic posts on his Facebook page, almost as though he had foreseen his fate. In one poignant post, he expressed uncertainty about the destination he was hastening towards but found solace in the belief that Jesus was guiding his path, despite any doubts or queries about the journey ahead.

He wrote, “I sincerely do not understand where I am heading to but I am rushing to that place. Why?

“Jesus is the one leading the way.”

Another of his posts read: “Dabere Chineke (God).

“Lord, I put my trust in you.”
