According to the Italian website TMW, Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, is poised for another meeting with Napoli. Although Osimhen’s contract has 18 months remaining, Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, recently indicated that a new deal is nearly finalized.
Following Osimhen being named African Men’s Footballer of the Year in Marrakech, Morocco, the 24-year-old promptly returned to action, playing 69 minutes in Napoli’s crucial Champions League match against Braga.
In the 33rd minute, Osimhen secured his first goal of the competition, marking his seventh of the season across all competitions.
As reported by TMW, Calenda was in the stands of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to watch Napoli’s win over Braga, and he is now expected to meet De Laurentiis.
The meeting could be the key step forward for the Nigerian striker’s contract renewal, which still hasn’t been finalised despite the Napoli president’s claims earlier this month that the parties were at ‘the signing stage’.
Osimhen is expected to command interest when the January transfer window reopens should his contract renewal stalls before next month, being the most exciting centre forward available in the transfer market currently.
