The ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State has escalated with four additional commissioners stepping down from their roles in the state executive council. George-Kelly Alabo, the Commissioner for Works, and Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma overseeing the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, submitted their resignation letters on Thursday.
Dated December 14, the letters were directed to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, via the Secretary to the State Government.
These resignations followed shortly after the departure of Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, earlier in the day. Joining them in stepping down from Fubara’s cabinet are Emeka Woke, the Commissioner for Special Duties, and Isaac Kamalu, the Commissioner of Finance.
Reportedly, those who have resigned are known as staunch allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.
